“A tree pruned properly is a tree that has retained its natural beauty” |
|
The most common practice performed by tree specialists is pruning. I take great care to evaluate the needs of each specimen individually, and apply the proper technique to achieve the desired objective. All my pruning recommendations are based on the ANSI A300 Pruning Standards (see below), recognized by professional Arborists nationwide. Furthermore, I take a “green” and “natural” approach to the actual pruning work with the very minimal and “only when necessary” use of Chainsaws and pole saws. This insures responsibility of the trimmer in the making of a proper (and smaller) cut through the use of handsaws and pole loppers(see Branch collar and Branch Bark Ridge below). My style also eliminates scarring on the Bark and into Cambium layer with the added bonus of a relatively noise and pollution free work site.
I take great pride in my pruning work! The best compliment that my climbers/trimmers and I can get is “It looks as though you didn’t touch it”.
We do not TOP trees and Spikes are NEVER worn unless a tree is to be removed!

Though we prefer to utilize our expertise in the endeavor to preserve trees, there are instances when tree removal becomes necessary. High-risk tree’s, over-mature trees in deep decline, or trees that simply have ceased to be an asset to the property are all potential candidates for removal. Whether it’s a tough climbing job in a remote area, or a large technical removal project with a lot of rigging or a crane, my team and I have the experience and expertise to get the job done safely and without damaging the surrounding features.
Stumps. Where stumps are accessible to equipment, they can be safely removed below grade and at times far enough below to allow the planting of a desirable replacement tree. We can tailor stump removal to your requirements and budget

Tree Planting is done for a variety of purposes and may be carried out for aesthetic value or to serve functional purposes such as replacement, screening, noise abatement, traffic control, wind modification, heat control or shade. For smaller projects I can help you choose and purchase the right trees for your environment and needs, install them correctly and follow up as necessary to insure proper structure and growth. For large commercial complexes or new developments, I will connect you with an affiliate landscape Architect or Designer but can and will perform the planting and follow up. |

With literally hundreds of fallen tree cleanups, ready to fall tree’s, broken hanging limbs and fallen limb cleanups in severe weather, night and day behind me, I have the experience, knowledge and tools to tackle just about any mind boggling project that comes our way. I have many years experience in the very large trees of northern California and the Santa Cruz mountains in particular as a prominent insurance company contractor in this capacity.

A hazardous tree is one with structural defects that can cause failure of all or part of the tree. Such a tree could strike a target like a vehicle, building, or a place where people gather such as a park bench, picnic table, street, or backyard. Regular tree inspections to identify and manage hazard trees can protect property and save lives.
Through my many years in the tree care industry and as an working Arborist, I have the experience and knowledge to recognize deficiencies in root and crown structure, the ability to detect and rate the hazard level of the tree and write/ present report therefrom.

Some trees can benefit from having large leaders, or structurally weak limbs, supported by the installation of support cables or braces. Installed properly by skilled and well trained arborists, cables can reduce the risk of storm damage and the associated hazard to property and property owner. Cables are always installed after pruning. Regular follow up to reduce cable tension, and inspection is MOST important as the supported limb will become cable dependent and could fail. I usually recommend cabling and bracing only as a last resort.

Trees on or near a construction site can be protected and preserved for the environmental and esthetic enhancement of the site. Preservation is the process of an arborist isolating and protecting one or more trees prior to and during the construction process.
I will stay in close contact with the developer, contractors and municipalities during all phases of a project, throughout the planning, design, pre-construction, construction and post-construction process.
During periods when work is performed around the tree protection zone, for example the grading of soil, root zone compaction by heavy equipment and other traffic and the installation of utilities. I will supervise this activity in all areas, document the activity for owner or municipality verification, conduct daily/weekly site inspections and recommend alternative designs and approaches to minimize damage and promote long term tree health.

Our tree inventories establish the location and species of each tree throughout the site and documents this information on a site plan for permanent long-term reference. Each tree is assigned an identification number, which is utilized for reference, planning, or action to be taken. The inventory step is a one-time project. All planning is based on the information provided in this permanent tree record, and all reference to trees is made from it.
Inventories help identify trends, assist in scheduling and performance of regular maintenance as well as provide realistic budgets for tree management.

When performed correctly, mulching is one of the most effective practices to maintain plant health.
